Well I know we should have met tonight in the classroom but I really want to get the entire lab up and running so we can use the newer faster machines. I did get a good recording for this week with no dropped audio as far as I can tell. On the plus side my minidisc recording of the entire class is absolutely awesome. The sound quality is incredible, even better than what I was hearing back in my headset in real time. I will edit the recording and upload it to the website asap. We managed to get through the news, go over the LabSim, Blackboard items, and chapter 2.
Your assignment between now and next week is to have completed all of the labs in 0.0 and 1.0 in the LabSim as well as chapters 1-3 in Blackboard. BTW I also assigned the practice questions and wanted people to try them before saturday to make sure scores were getting recorded. So far nobody has tried them or emailed me so that I can take a look. You guys better get your game faces on because this stuff isn't easy by any means.

Well things are somewhat on track but the snow has put us just a little behind. I had a web meeting with the Globaloria people and they have done a little reorganizing of the links on the site. I'm still not sure why they would do this in the middle of a semester. It may make sense to them but it is rather annoying especially when you go to make lesson plans. Oh well we will trudge on.
This week we are going to focus on moving on a path and special effects. We already covered moving on a path last semester so this should be a little refresher for you. I will have the wiki updated with a general outline of when we are going to cover each topic probably by saturday, unless the website goes down again. Gotta love getting hacked.

First class meeting in a while! I lectured on chapters 2 and most of 3. We will finish up anything I haven't covered in chapter 3 on tues. You need to have worked on your online question sets for chapters 2 and 3 by tues 2/23.

Turned in 2 homework assignments from the last couple of classes. We aren't as far behind as the rest of my classes because you guys were already assigned work for the days we had off. I lectured on chapter 3 and introduced the concept of variables and their uses. We did a little in class assignment of reading in the value of a textbox and adding or dividing the numbers to get a sum and output that back to a label. For homework you are to create a basic calculator as demonstrated in class.

Wow long break! Lots of snow to go around. I hope you all took the time to get rested up and at least practice on what we have been working on. I will see you in class and hopefully we can make up for lost time.

Continued chapter 2 today focusing on the picture box control and how to manipulate things using radio buttons. I'll have my demo posted to the website asap. It is already on the Z: drive at school if you need it now. Your weekend assignment is the Hands-On programming example starting on page 95. Put it together and use your own code. Ignore their's except to use for an example. I also want you to add the ability to change the font colors on the form. Have this done for tuesday.

Late Work Policy - All Classes |

This goes for all classes. If you miss class for any reason you are responsible for finding out what we did and the work that is due. Do not come to me the following class and ask what went on, that is why I have office hours, Skype, and email. If work is due the following class after you miss, it is still due for you. The only excuses will be those as outlined in the student handbook. Work will be accepted with a 10% penalty per day up to 5 days late. After that I will not accept it. I've got way to much going on right now to have to chase papers.

Wow sometimes the best laid plans going to waste is a good thing! We started off by trying to finish up the parts finding assignment. I went over how I go about searching for information of parts. Yeah you may think all I have to do is Google it but it can be a tedious procedure to find what you are looking for. Anyhoo during class I found that the new computers had shown up and were stacked in the corner of the lab. So like all techs do in their career, we spent the next several hours unboxing 10 new machines.
