Anti-Virus, Firewalls, and Spyware were our focus today. We had a classs discussion about them and then did an in class assignment. The powerpoint presentation along with all of the notes will be available shortly for download. I will also be posting the next couple of days an online version of the class that you will be able to stream to your pc.

More practice with layers and the selection tools. This time it was fun because we are going to do a photoshop contest. I gave links to the 2 contests in a doc file that will be available for download shortly. You homework was to produce 1 photo for each of the two contests on fark.com. You are also to produce 2 photos for each of the 2 photos (flabby ham guy and drive slowly girl) When you get done upload all 6 photos into your ftp account. I will not have you do the tutorial that I was working on in class, I will save it for next time.

We skipped ahead in the book to cover the middle part of chapter 5, wireless networking and networking interfaces. I did not assign any questions as of yet. We spent time installing a usb wireless card and then making a cheapo antenna to try and improve reception (which led to the most interesting side talk we have ever had in any class). We will go over more wireless setups along with the router on thursday, and possibly plan a war drive.. Your homework was to find at least 3 programs (windows based) that have a similar functionality as NetStumbler from netstumbler.com.

We spent the class time in the tv studio using the green screen backdrop. You should have been prepared to do your little news skit but it was clear that many were not ready. Please be more responsible in the future. I have already placed the videos on the network drive at school. You may download them from there. It was nearly 2 gigs of material so I did not want to post it to the website. Be prepared to walk into class on Thursday and work with your partner to edit the video (ie have everything you need...sounds, clips, pics etc.). If I do not see more hustle out of the class as a whole then the assignments will become progressively more difficult.

We handed in homework and took the exam for 3-4 and 5-6. Your assignment should cover up through lesson 10. We will double up on exams this coming week to make up for the Labor day class. Do the review questions up through page 194. I will make up an adjusted schedule to pass out on Monday so that everyone is clear on what we will be doing for the rest of the semester. Exams will be on 7-8 and 9-10.

eBay baby!! We spent time going over the basics of eBay. I was surprised that only 2-3 students had ever purchased anything from eBay. There is a download that has a few documents explaining the basics and we also answered questions from the homework directlry that was included in the file. If you didn't make it to class, sorry it was handed in and graded already.

Download the zip filed tutorials from the downloads section, Car Go Fast, and Selective Coloring. Follow the tutorials and practice on the included photos. Once you mastered the tutorial, find 2 car photos and 2 other photos for coloring. Perform some photoshop magic on them and then post them to your ftp account. Due 9/25

We watched everyone's music video that they had created which took the majority of the class. I then went over how to use the overlay video track to both kix videos and to do chroma-key editing. "See now I'm in the action!" You need to be working with your partner between now and next tues for the news report we will be doing. Please come prepared as to what segment you will be doing so that we can begin filming right away.

We took the Lesson 1-2 exam after turning in homework. I gave the option of staying after the exam. Myself and 1-2 others did stay behind for lecture. I lectured on Lessons 4-8. We will do twice the homework for this coming week to make up for the week we are behind. You are responsible for Review Questions Pgs. 70, 71, 89, 90, 91, 107, 134, 135, 153 ,& 154. We will also have an exam on lessons 3-6. I'll bump 7-8 to week after next so that there are not to many tests in one week.

Site Updates 9/14 |

Well it has been almost 9 months since I started this site. Things have gone pretty good. I really wanted to update the look of the site. It was kept low profile because I still have folks with 56k dialup internet. I really felt with as good as the site has become that it really needed a little more flair. I have optimized the graphics and kept them as small as possile. You will also notice that I have removed the calendar. It was creating a massive amount of code each time the page was rendered, both slowing server response time and making the page much larger in size. I will post my office hours on a small static page and list the link with all the others. If you stop by and the page looks weird or out of place just check back later because I'm updating in real time. If you like/dislike the looks please drop me a line and tell me what you would like to see changed.
